How do we lose our ability to hear some or all of the sounds of the rainbow?
The natural aging process is the number one cause of hearing loss.
Noise is the second leading cause of hearing loss. Regular exposure to sounds over 85 decibels (city traffic is 80, a boom box is 120 and a rock concert is 140) puts hearing at risk!
Other causes of hearing loss include:
- High fever diseases
- Diabetes
- Head trauma
- Earwax buildup
- Exposure to ototoxic medications
- Heredity
- History of ear infections and/or allergies
