Do Sounds Have Color

YOU BET THEY DO!

Think about it.
The wail of a fire engine's siren is red...
the slow, low notes of a saxophone are blue...
the steady buzz of a chainsaw is purple...
and the joy of children's laughter is yellow.

The world is a rainbow of sound. And although each sound is different for every person, it's very common to associate colors with sounds.

There's a rainbow of sound all around us.
But not everyone can hear all the sounds of the rainbow!

Your quality of life is directly related to your quality of hearing.

Living with hearing loss can leave a person feeling isolated. It is hard to communicate when you can't understand what someone else is saying. Especially when you're missing important information or a message from someone you love.

Today, there is often help for people with hearing loss. Listen to the Rainbow, a hearing wellness campaign, focuses on raising awareness about hearing loss prevention, treatment and available technology.

Listen to the Rainbow is sponsored by the Center for Hearing & Deaf Services, Inc. (HDS), a community-based nonprofit agency serving the people of southwestern Pennsylvania since 1921. HDS understands the importance of healthy hearing and its impact on the quality of life. That is why HDS works hard to help people become aware of the effects of hearing loss and how it can be treated and prevented.
